Per a press release on Monday, ONE Championship announced a deal to co-promote WBC and Ring Super Flyweight World Champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai with Nakornloung Promotions. The announcement was made at a kick-off press conference at the W Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.

Rungvisai will be featured on the ONE: Kingdom of Heroes card which is set to take place at the Impact Arena on October 6 in Thailand. ONE Championship has frequented Thailand since 2016. The Kingdom of Heroes card will be the fifth in Thailand in that time span.

Rungvisai is one of the biggest sports stars from Thailand and he has emerged as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in boxing with back-to-back wins over Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez and his most recent victory over Juan Francisco Estrada.

Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, WBC, and The Ring Super Flyweight World Champion stated: “I am happy and honored to take part in this historical ONE Championship's event. I was at ONE Championship's event in Bangkok earlier this year, and it blew my mind with its world-class production, entertainment, and fights. I would also like to thank everyone who made this possible. With ONE Championship opening its doors for athletes like me to showcase our talent on the global stage, it means a lot. This is a new challenge, and I love challenges. I am looking forward to defending my WBC World title belt in ONE Championship.”

ONE Championship has crafted a successful path to success by capitalizing on the rich tradition of martial arts throughout Asia and by providing a platform for star fighters to shine in their home countries. Featuring a fighter of Rungvisai's ilk in his home country of Thailand is the next step in that direction, and it breaks ground in a new sport.

Chatri Sityodtong, Chairman, and CEO of ONE Championship stated: “It is my honor and my pleasure to see some of the greatest martial artists on the planet compete in ONE Championship. The thing that makes ONE Championship different from any other organization in the world, is that we want to build and unleash martial arts superheroes to ignite the world with inspiration, hope, dreams, strength, and courage. This coming October, Thailand will host the biggest event in martial arts history as talented athletes from boxing, mixed martial arts and Muay Thai will join together under one roof in celebrating Asia’s greatest cultural treasure. ONE Championship will create an indelible legacy on 6 October.”

Rungvisai is the perfect fighter to work with ONE as it starts its journey into boxing. He is rooted in an Asian country with a long history in the martial arts. However, Rungvisai and other great Thai fighters haven't received the kind of attention and notoriety they may have deserved in the past.

ONE Championship can help to provide a platform for Rungvisai and others, much as they have done with Aung La N Sang and other Asian-born fighters who have found stardom with the promotion. Rungvisai is already further along the path than some of the others the promotion has worked with, so this could be a great relationship for both sides.
