On Friday, two-time Olympic gold medalist Claressa Shields will face Hanna Gabriels in the main event of a three-fight Showtime boxing card. The bout is for the vacant IBF and WBA world middleweight titles, and will be the toughest of Shields’ career.
The card is set to begin at 10 p.m. ET on Showtime, with two televised bouts before the main event. Live streaming of the three total bouts can be had via Showtime or a streaming service that carries it, such as fuboTV.
Shields is 5-0 with two knockouts in her professional career, which came after a lengthy and extremely successful amateur career. She’s taking on the 35-year-old Gabriels, who is 18-1-1 with 11 knockouts. Gabriels holds the WBA and WBO world super welterweight titles, while Shields holds the WBC and IBF super middleweight titles. None of those are on the line.
Christina Hammer, owner of the WBO and WBC world middleweight titles, will be in the co-featured bout against Tori Nelson. Nelson is coming off a 10-round decision loss to Shields. If Hammer and Shields both win, a unification bout could be on the horizon.
The three-fight televised card will open with a bout between light heavyweights Umar Salamov and Brian Howard. That bout will be for the vacant IBF North American light heavyweight title.
Below is all you need to know to watch the action, and below that is the full fight card.
