Boxing 2018 Predictions: 5 Fighters Set To Explode In 2018

As usual, the upcoming year will almost certainly have its share of surprises, but if I'm taking a look at my crystal ball, there are five fighters who stand out as performers ready to explode onto the next level of the sport.

"Pretty Boy" Josh Kelly

You may not be familiar with the 23-year-old from Sunderland, Tyne and Wear in the United Kingdom now, but chances are, you will hear his name a few times over the next 12 months. He's had only five professional fights (5-0, 4 KO), but he's already doing things between the ropes that have boxing aficionados talking.

As someone who has followed the sport for more than 35 years and covered it professionally for nearly 10, I can tell you, I've only seen raw athleticism in the ring on par with Kelly's from one other person, and his name is Roy Jones Jr.

The year 2017 was a good one for the sport of boxing. Fighters like Vasyl Lomachenko, Terence Crawford, and Srisaket Sor Rungvisai should be strongly considered for Fighter of the Year. But what about 2018?
